About the Doctor
Sam W. Levine, D.D.S., M.S.
Dr. Sam W. Levine graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1997 with a B.A. degree in economics. He continued his education at New York University earning his D.D.S. in 2002. He graduated 1st in his class of over 300 dentists, was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honorary dental society, and was awarded numerous prestigious honors, including the Edward G. Kaufman Award, the Kramer Award, and the honor of being named Best Clinical Dentist in his class.
He completed his orthodontic specialty training and earned his orthodontic certificate from the University of Maryland in 2005 where he also graduated 1st in his class. In addition, he earned a Masters degree in Science studying the bite, jaw function and TMJ disorders. Dr. Levine became Board Certified, achieving Diplomate Status from the American Board of Orthodontics in 2008.
Dr. Levine recognizes the importance of staying up to date with the rapid changes in orthodontics and continues to spend numerous hours taking Continuing Education courses, well beyond the state requirements. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, and the Middlesex District Dental Society, as well as the American Association of Orthodontics and the Massachusetts Society of Orthodontics.
He has served as Chair-Elect, Vice-Chair and Chair of the District Dental Society, in charge of over 500 dentists in Middlesex County. In 2009, he was awarded the Top 10 Under 10 honor by the Massachusetts Dental Society, bestowed on the Top 10 Dentists in the state having graduated less than 10 years ago from dental school.
As a result of Dr. Levine’s extensive training and continuing education, he offers the latest orthodontic techniques including Damon braces, lingual braces, Invisalign, and orthopedic appliances (jaw harmonizing). Cutting edge techniques such as Temporary Anchorage Devices (TAD’s) allow him to treat cases once untreatable with conventional orthodontics. The use of a soft tissue laser also speeds up treatment by aiding the growth of teeth.
Dr. Levine has been affiliated with Operation Smile for many years. He has coordinated and participated in a dental mission to Vietnam and continues to volunteer for this organization by serving on the Operation Smile Speakers Bureau.
Dr. Levine was born in New York in 1975. He and his wife live in Lexington, along with their dog and two cats. His interests beyond orthodontics include scuba diving, sailing, traveling, playing the drums and teaching the drums for the Lexington Fife and Drum Corp.
